NASCAR Wants $30M For Busch Series Title Sponsorship

NASCAR Seeking $30M Annually
For Title Sponsor Of Second Series
NASCAR is “seeking approximately $30[M] annually to sponsor” its second series, “roughly twice the annual investment” Anheuser-Busch currently pays to put its Busch brand on the series, according to sources cited by Marty Smith of ESPN.com. Sources indicated that there is “no clear front-runner at this point, but did admit that previously-speculated suitors Subway, Samsung and Wal-Mart are accurate.” Sources also said that Dunkin’ Donuts “is a player, and that NASCAR met with Allstate last week.” NASCAR “went through all sponsors that would present conflicts with [its] official partners, the race teams and tracks –- which is where Allstate presents an issue; all six Speedway Motorsports tracks are sponsored by Nationwide –-and created a short list before approaching existing partners to gauge interest” (ESPN.com, 1/29).
