Marlins Increase Prices Of Single Tickets Bought On Game Day
Published January 9, 2007
While Marlins ticket prices will remain the same for the ’07 season for fans who buy 41- and 81-game packages, single-game seats will increase, according to Clark Spencer of the MIAMI HERALD. An infield box seat that cost $33 in ’06 will be $35 this season, and $40 if bought on game day. Marlins VP/Marketing Sean Flynn said that despite the price hike, “only two or three other teams price their tickets more affordably.” Spencer noted the Marlins were last in MLB in home attendance last year, and they are “concentrating their marketing efforts on the weekends, and Saturdays in particular, to lure more fans.” The team will erect a “party zone” in the Dolphin Stadium parking lot and feature postgame concerts and fireworks displays that will “become part of the Saturday baseball experience.” Flynn said, “We’re ‘eventizing’ Saturday night” (MIAMI HERALD, 1/6). In Ft. Lauderdale, Sarah Talalay reported the team’s marketing tagline this season is “You Gotta Be Here.” The club also plans to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its ‘97 World Series championship with a commemorative patch on its uniforms all season and throwback uniforms June 14, when it plays the Indians, who the Marlins beat for the title (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 1/6).
