$tock Tracker: Daktronics Posts Top Share Returns In ’06

THE DAILY’s $tock Tracker follows 50 stocks in areas that include sports activities,
goods and services, publishing, media and entertainment. The following is a list
of the ten best and worst performances among these stocks for ’06. Daktronics
led the winners with a 150% rise in share price. The only new entrant to the top
ten winners since the end of September was THQ Inc. (+36%), which along with Activision
(+25%) led videogame makers. Other strong performers in ’06 included Under Armour
(+32%), K2 (+30%), Penn National Gaming (+26%), Puma (+20%), Churchill Downs (+18%),
Nike (+16%), Quiksilver (+14%) and advertising and marketing-related companies
Interpublic Group (+27%), Omnicom (+24%) and Publicis Groupe (+23%). Beyond
top performers DirecTV, Disney and Gemstar-TV Guide in the media and entertainment
group, Time Warner (+26%) and Cablevision (+21%) also posted strong ’06 returns,
while Viacom was flat.
BOTTOM PERFORMERS: Midway Games, which was the top laggard through September (-54%), closed the year in that same spot (-63%). Magna Entertainment, Youbet.com, Six Flags and The Finish Line all remained among the bottom ten performers since Q3, while McClatchy Co., Volcom, Dover Motorsports, adidas and Foot Locker joined the group.
