Chiefs Select Construction Companies For Arrowhead Stadium Renovation

The Chiefs have selected Turner Construction Co. and JE Dunn Group Inc. to manage construction of the Arrowhead Stadium renovation. The pairing entered a low bid of about $24M (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/13)....Before last night’s 49ers-Seahawks game, “torrential rain pelted the stadium ... forcing the officials to meet with an observer from the league office to discuss whether the start of the game should be delayed.” But the rain subsided, allowing the field to drain (POST-INTELLIGENCER, 12/15)....The Univ. of Southern California will “draw up plans in the spring for a new football complex across the street from Howard Jones Field.” The complex will include football offices, along with new locker rooms, training rooms and an expanded weight room (SAN GABRIEL VALLEY TRIBUNE, 12/15)....The U.S. and Mexico men’s national soccer teams will meet February 7 at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium. Grand Canyon Univ. soccer coach Petar Draksin said, “I’m going to be very surprised if that stadium doesn’t get 60,000” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 12/15).... Ripken Baseball and FieldTurf have reached a multi-year agreement making FieldTurf the official turf provider for the organization. Cal Ripken Jr. will attend trade shows and sales presentations on behalf of FieldTurf and serve as the face of its baseball division (FieldTurf).
