Al Davis Finding No Takers For 31% Stake In Raiders

Raiders Owner Al Davis’ “protracted attempt to sell a minority interest of the team — which he obtained from the heirs of deceased former limited partner Edward W. McGah — continues to go nowhere,” according to sources cited by Nancy Gay of the S.F. CHRONICLE. Davis, who has been offering a 31% stake in the franchise that he reportedly purchased as part of an ’05 financial settlement, reportedly owns about 67% of the team and “has shown no inclination that he will surrender his controlling power.” Sources said that the 31% stake has not “generated much interest from buyers ... because Davis is not including any form of franchise control in the transaction, either now or upon the event of his death” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 11/25).
