PBR World Finals Ratings On
Versus Up 33% From Last Year

LIVE FROM BEIJING: USA TODAY’s Michael Hiestand reports NBC “expects a 20% ratings jump on the eight nights of the [’08 Beijing] Games where it can carry live action from events, such as swimming and gymnastics, moved partly to accommodate U.S. TV” (USA TODAY, 11/10).

NOTES: ESPN earned a 1.5/ (1,381,000 HHs) for four “Game Time” telecasts during the opening week of the NBA season, up 15% and 14%, respectively. for the equivalent telecasts last season....The PBR World Finals on Versus last week earned a 0.4/ (287,527 HHs) cable rating, up 33% from last year. The seven-day event drew 465,481 viewers, up 52% from 306,658 in ’05. Viewers in the men 18-34 demo increased 67%, while men 18-49 and 25-54 were up 33% and 21%, respectively....The 3.9/9 for LSU-Tennessee last Saturday marks the highest-rated college football broadcast on CBS this season. Through 11 college football telecasts, CBS is averaging a 3.0/7 this season, up 11% from a 2.7/6 for ten games at the same point in the ’05 season. The season-to-date average is the highest for CBS’ college football coverage since a 3.1/8 in ’03 (CBS).
