Knicks Season-Ticket Base Down 15% From Last Season

The Knicks’ full- and partial-plan season-ticket base has dropped “a significant 15[%] from last season’s opening-night total,” and a source indicated that the “final full season-ticket plan tally could be the lowest in 20 years,” according to Marc Berman of the N.Y. POST. MSG President & COO Steve Mills before last season’s opener said that the season-ticket base was “on par with the prior season’s,” which was about 13,000. As policy after non-playoff years, the team did not raise ticket prices. Berman notes the Knicks this offseason “gave their season-ticket base softer deadlines to renew as courtesy, moving it back to late August from July 1.” They are also “offering a ton of extras to the loyal fans who will return,” including autographed pieces of MSG’s floor from the ‘69-70 and ‘72-73 championship seasons. Some of the “longest-tenured subscribers were having their floor piece hand-delivered by various Knicks.” Other offers include a free tour of MSG, free media guides and yearbooks, a visit to the team’s practice facility to meet players, discounts on additional tickets and other bonuses “never before done” by the Knicks (N.Y. POST, 10/25).
