Gulbis Inks Deals With 24 Hour Fitness, Las Vegas VW Dealer

LPGAer Natalie Gulbis recently finalized a multi-year deal with 24 Hour Fitness, which gets use to her name and likeness for marketing purposes. Gulbis will not sport a 24 Hour Fitness logo during tournaments but will make personal appearances on behalf of the company. The gym operator also has endorsement deals with Shaquille O’Neal, Andre Agassi and Lance Armstrong (Scott Hamilton, SportsBusiness Journal). Gulbis, during the second season premiere of her reality show on The Golf Channel, said another new endorsement deal resulted from a recent golf outing with a representative from a local Volkswagen dealership in the Las Vegas area. Gulbis said the rep told her, “‘We’d love to have a spokesperson for Findlay Volkswagen.’ So it just all came together and today we shot a commercial for them.” Findlay Volkswagen GM Justin Findlay said Gulbis “definitely attracts people that normally wouldn’t be attracted to the LPGA Tour and also for us. She’s visible ... and she’s trying to get better known in our community so I think it would be good for her.”

EXPOSURE: Gulbis wore an adidas shirt and TaylorMade hat during the show, and she also appeared at an autograph signing for TaylorMade/adidas during last night’s episode. The show opened with her filming golf tips for FHM, which she joined recently as a golf columnist. Gulbis, on wearing a short skirt for the film shoot: “They did a little work on that skirt. I have no problems being in that sort of length, but I don’t feel comfortable with that length on the golf course so my skirts are longer on the golf course. But it was fun for that shoot” (“The Natalie Gulbis Show,” 10/18).
