The Grizzlies and Lexus of Memphis last Thursday “played host to some 300 invited
guests who perused a mini-car lot in a cocktail-party setting” at FedExForum,
according to David Williams of the Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL. The event included
short talks from Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West and Grizzlies
President of Business Operations Andy Dolich. Grizzlies coach Mike Fratello attended,
while Gs Eddie Jones and Dahntay Jones “mingled and posed for pictures.” Grizzlies
VP/Corporate Partnerships Chad Bolen: “We have never done anything like this.
I don’t know if anything like this has ever been done.” Bolen noted the Nets host
an “‘influencer party,’ where they have people over to people’s houses and attempt
to sell them tickets.” But he said, “We wanted to kind of take that to another
level. Instead of inviting your friends to your house and the Grizzlies would
have a cocktail party at your house, we said, ‘Why don’t you all invite your customers
in here?’” Williams noted the Lexus dealership “has an advertising package for
TV games, sponsors the team’s annual Martin Luther King Day celebration, and has
naming rights to the arena’s Lexus Lounge” (
