FRANCHISE: The Trail Blazers named MIKE GOLUB Exec VP/Business Operations. Golub was most recently NHL Rangers Senior VP/Marketing & Business Operations, and prior to that was Grizzlies Exec VP/Business Operations (Trail Blazers). Trail Blazers President & GM STEVE PATTERSON said that he and Owner PAUL ALLEN “decided the organization needed a senior executive on the business side” with him adding the GM role (Portland OREGONIAN, 10/14)....The 76ers named Single-A South Atlantic League Delmarva Shorebirds GM STEVE YAROS VP/Marketing. Both teams are owned by Comcast-Spectacor (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 10/14)....In this week’s SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Terry Lefton reports former D’Backs Senior Dir of Marketing MIKE MALO has joined the Eagles “as the team’s newest branding guru.” Also, NASCAR Dir of Partnership Marketing EVA HOFFMAN has joined the Nets “in a similar role, albeit part time” (SBJ, 10/16 issue).
EXECS: Magna Entertainment Corp. announced the resignation of COO DON AMOS and named JIM BROMBY and BRANT LATTA as Senior VPs/Operations (MEC)....The NFLPA’s Players Inc named Florida Lottery CMO DEXTER SANTOS VP/Player Marketing. Prior to joining the Florida Lottery, Santos was Hawks Senior Dir of Marketing & Civic Affairs (Players Inc)....Cornerstone named NBA VP/Global Media STEVEN JUSTMAN Exec VP & GM of Cornerstone and its Fader magazine (Cornerstone)....Newark Downtown Core Redevelopment Corp. head RICHARD MONTEILH said that he is leaving the agency, which is responsible for the city’s new hockey arena and related economic development, “to allow Mayor CORY BOOKER a chance to take full control.” Monteilh: “I want to give the new mayor the opportunity to put his fingerprints on the arena.” Monteilh, who signed a three-year contract for $170,000 per year in July, “will be paid a year’s salary as part of his agreement to leave” (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 10/13).
