Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) President-Elect AIMEE MULLINS is profiled by USA TODAY’s Christine Brennan, who notes Mullins was born without a fibula in either leg and “on her first birthday, both of her legs were amputated below the knee.” At Georgetown Univ., Mullins became the first disabled athlete to compete on an NCAA Division I track team and she later competed in the ’96 Paralympic Games, setting world records in the 100-meter dash and long jump. Mullins has also done some modeling and has appeared in several films. WSF CEO DONNA LOPIANO said that the organization will “launch an ‘unprecedented’ initiative in the coming year ... aimed at helping disabled girls and women” (USA TODAY, 10/12).
