Facility Notes

The entire Alltel Stadium complex could become “part of a naming-rights deal that could start at [$5-6M] a year for 15 to 20 years.” Jacksonville Economic Development Commission Exec Dir Ron Barton: “We will consider anything.” Southeast Toyota Distributors Group VP Ed Sheehy has met with Team Services, which is brokering the deal, while Citi Cards and Fidelity National Financial said that they “were approached, but weren’t pursuing” a deal. The city owns the complex and will split any naming-rights deal with the Jaguars (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 10/12).

LAP OF LUXURY: Lexus purchased the naming rights to a new club level at the Rose Garden, which includes a 3,000-square-foot courtside club and suites. The deal includes signage and brand activation throughout the arena, and all marketing, programs and promotions regarding the new area will refer to the Lexus Club Level. Lexus Club Level guests receive valet parking discounts and exclusive event notifications (THE DAILY).

DRY DOCK: In Long Beach, Joe Stevens reports construction “has yet to start” on the Clippers’ new practice facility, which was originally scheduled to be completed last month. The project “has been held up because of various environmental concerns.” Also, Clippers Owner Donald Sterling “added onto the $20[M] project plans to make the practice facility two stories.” Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy: “I’m being told we’re going to break ground before Nov. 1” (Long Beach PRESS-TELEGRAM, 10/12).

DINOSAUR CAVE: Ongoing renovations to the Air Canada Centre include a C$500,000 overhaul of the Raptors’ locker room. Changes include “fewer lockers,” which means “more space for players.” Also, a new TV-DVD-CD unit “is yet to be installed but it will occupy a much bigger space than the previous one did” (TORONTO STAR, 10/12).
