TIME TO MAKE THE DEAL: In Boston, Jesse Noyes reported Dunkin’ Donuts has signed Patriots DT Richard Seymour to an endorsement deal that will include a 30-second TV ad, radio spots, public appearances and other advertising. The TV spot, via Hill Holliday, Boston, shows Seymour pushing a blocking sled through a farm, streets and a forest before stopping in front of a Dunkin’ Donuts outlet. He then asks the coach who is on the sled, “Do you want anything?” The ad promotes the chain’s Sausage Supreme Omelet sandwich and coffee, which will be packaged together as a combo called the Patriots Pick (BOSTON HERALD, 8/26).
FAMILY AFFAIR: DirecTV has signed Colts QB Peyton Manning, Giants QB Eli Manning and Pro Football HOFer Archie Manning to a three-year contract through the ’08 season to serve as spokespersons for the service. DirecTV has also bought a spot on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” regular-season debut September 10, featuring Colts-Giants (Andrew Marchand, SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/28 issue).
STEEL CURTAIN: Comcast has added Steelers 24/7 to its digital cable service in the Pittsburgh market. The on-demand feature currently has around 35 hours of content, including segments from training camp as well as preseason games originally aired on KDKA-CBS. QB Ben Roethlisberger and CB Ike Taylor serve as spokespersons (Comcast).
PULL UP THREE CHAIRS: Pro Football HOFer Jim Kelly, Fox Sports’ Jimmy Johnson and former NFL referee Jerry Markbreit have been added to Miller Lite’s “Men of the Square Table” campaign for the upcoming NFL season. The spots are from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Miami. Also, Miller Lite will sponsor a “Square Table” segment on ESPN’s “NFL Primetime” (AD AGE, 8/28 issue).
