Slim Fast: FIA Trims Two Races From ’07 F1 Schedule

Next season’s F1 calendar “has been cut from 19 to 17 races with the San Marino and European Grands Prix, being dropped from the schedule,” according to the London TELEGRAPH. The FIA said that the ’07 season will start with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 18, while the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa will “return after a one-year absence for track improvements.” Indianapolis will again host the U.S. Grand Prix, “despite the farce in 2005 when only six cars started the race because of concern over [tire] safety” (London TELEGRAPH, 8/29).
