Water Of Love: Wright’s Deal Conflicts With Mets Sponsor

Wright’s Vitaminwater Endorsement
Deal Conflicts With Team Sponsor

Mets 3B David Wright recently signed an endorsement deal for Glaceau’s Vitaminwater, and while drinking the product in the dugout during a recent game, he was asked by a team exec to “rip the label off the bottle,” according to Tim Arango of the N.Y. POST. The Mets have a “seven-figure deal” with another company to be the team’s official water. Wright said, “I’m still going to drink what I want to drink, but I realize that big market teams like the Mets have deals in place.” Arango notes Queens-based Glaceau “has no Yankees under contract but that hasn’t stopped some from sneaking a chug” during games (N.Y. POST, 8/6).

WRIGHT ON: John Camilleri, GM for the Yankees and Mets Clubhouse stores in N.Y. said that Derek Jeter’s No. 2 jersey, which was the best seller for ten years, have “been surpassed in popularity" by Wright (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 8/7).
