Not So Sirius: Watkins Glen Lands New Sponsor For Cup Date

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has reached an agreement with Watkins Glen Int’l to be the title sponsor for the track’s ‘06 NASCAR Nextel Cup event. The August 13 race will be called AMD at The Glen. The deal with Watkins Glen and the track’s parent company, ISC, adds to AMD's growing motorsports portfolio, which already includes status as the official technology partner of NASCAR. AMD also is a technology partner with F1 racing's governing body, the FIA. Sirius Satellite Radio had been the race’s sponsor since ‘02, but it exercised an out option last December.
