Comcast-Spectacor Retains Firm To Review Any 76ers Bids

Comcast-Spectacor President & COO Peter Luukko said that the company “has hired a Wall Street firm to review offers, should any be forthcoming,” for the 76ers, according to Phil Jasner of the PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS. A radio report stated the potential sale price was $500M, but Luukko said, “That’s totally, totally off base. ... We have advisers, we’re not setting prices.” Luukko recently said that “even though the company receives ‘expressions of interest from time to time, no one has made us an offer and we’re not actively selling the team.’” Forbes’ latest valuations put the 76ers No. 11 among the NBA’s 30 teams at $351M. Comcast-Spectacor also owns the Flyers, AHL Phantoms, Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum, as well as three minor league baseball teams (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 8/4).
