TAKING IT TO THE HOUSE: NBA Kings co-Owners Joe and Gavin Maloof donated $10,000 to help pay for construction of the expanded Kiwanis Family House near the Univ. of California-Davis Medical Center (SACRAMENTO BEE, 8/2).
FOR THE KIDS: The NFL Panthers have made a $1M donation to the Levine Children’s Hospital that is scheduled to open next fall on the Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) campus in Charlotte. The medical and surgical floor of the facility will have a “distinct Panthers theme, including player pictures, team colors and autographed items” (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/3). CMC is the team’s official health care provider (THE DAILY).
