The A’s named VP/Sales & Marketing DAVID ALIOTO Exec VP of Earthquakes Soccer LLC, the first soccer personnel appointment since the May 24 announcement that MLS and A’s Owners LEW WOLFF and JOHN FISHER had formed a partnership seeking to bring an MLS team back to the Bay Area (A’s). In San Jose, Dylan Hernandez reports Alioto will vacate his A’s position on September 1. Alioto said that the A’s would open an office for their soccer operations in San Jose next month (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 7/7).
