Purple Rain: Vikings Sign Cable Content Deal With FSN North

Content Deal With FSN North
FSN North will become the Vikings’ “first cable partner ever,” according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. FSN North is planning a year-round half-hour weekly program set to debut August 24; a half-hour show airing weekdays during training camp July 28-August 17; live coverage of weekly news conferences; postgame shows after several regular-season games; and coverage from the team’s ’07 NFL Draft party. Vikings QB Brad Johnson has also signed a deal with the net “to be part of the programming.” Vikings VP/Sales & Marketing Steve LaCroix said, “We really felt there was a need for additional programming in the marketplace. This was a good first step toward expanding our broadcast initiatives.” Zulgad notes the FSN North deal does not include Vikings preseason games, as KSTP-ABC has one year remaining on its deal for those rights (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 6/23).
