Study Shows Sports Licensing Up 1.9% To $8.1B In ’05

Manufacturers paid $5.952B in U.S. licensing royalties during ’05, up 1.8% from $5.845B in ’04, according to a study commissioned by the Int’l Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA). Sports leagues and individuals yielded licensing revenues of $8.1B, up 1.9% from $7.95B in ’04. For the first time in the history of the study, licensing revenues delivered gains from ’04 in all categories. The following details yearly estimated revenues by category (LIMA).
