360 Architecture To Design Triple-A Ballpark In Columbus
Published June 19, 2006
The Triple-A Int’l League Columbus Clippers have selected 360 Architecture to design $65M Huntington Park, the team’s facility proposed for the city’s downtown arena district, industry sources said. 360 Principals George Heinlein and Brad Schrock designed Nationwide Arena for the Blue Jackets when their firm was known as Heinlein Schrock Stearns. Nationwide Realty, the Clippers’ project developer, owns 90% of Nationwide Arena. Huntington Bancshares signed a 23-year, $12M naming-rights contract earlier this year for the 10,000-seat ballpark. Construction is expected to start this fall pending completion of a financing package. The stadium would open in ’08. The Clippers, a Yankees affiliate, currently play at 74-year-old Cooper Stadium.
