Gang Green: Celtics No Longer Only NBA Team Without Dancers

The Celtics announced the formation of the Celtics Dancers, a dance team that will perform during games at TD Banknorth Garden beginning next season. The Celtics were the last remaining team in the NBA without a dance team (Celtics). Celtics Exec VP/Sales & Marketing Rich Gotham said that the “demand from fans drove the decision.” Gotham: “We feel that the time is right for this. We talked about this for quite a while before going through with it.” Celtics President Red Auerbach, a vocal opponent of the idea, said, “Things change, you know. But I’ve always been against it, and I still am” (BOSTON HERALD, 5/13).
