Dodger Stadium has grown by only 1,000 seats in recent years, but the lines at
concession stands “have seemingly grown by 1,000%,” according to the L.A. TIMES’
Bill Plaschke in a column about Levy Restaurants’ management of the venue’s concessions.
Plaschke wrote of standing in line for 25 minutes “even though the stadium was
at just 60% capacity,” adding, “Welcome to Levy’s Lost World, horrendous nightly
concession lines that shed a harsh new light on old baseball favorites.” Dodgers
Exec VP & COO Marty Greenspun said, “Is there room for improvement? Absolutely.
We are working with the Levys to make it happen.” But Plaschke wrote, “That seems
to be the problem. Working with the Levys.” Levy Restaurants Regional Dir of Operations
Scott Goldberg said, “I always think we could be quicker,” but he added, “Our
hands are tied sometimes.” Goldberg cited the small size of the Dodger Stadium
concession stands, and that there are “only two elevators running from their eighth-floor
warehouse.” Plaschke noted Levy, which serves 73 sports venues, has a 15-year
lease with the Dodgers, so the “only option is to complain, complain, complain.
There is clearly more room behind the concession stands for more vendors. There
are clearly ways for workers to provide quicker service” (
