Gehry Unveils Pared-Down Plans For Brooklyn Arena Complex

As the movie “Sketches of Frank Gehry” opens in N.Y., the architect’s scaled-down plans for Nets Owner Bruce Ratner’s Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn have done little to appease local opponents of the arena complex. The new designs replace much of the façade’s steel with glass and decrease the size by 5%, but Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn spokesperson Daniel Goldstein says the revision “does not change the fact of 16 skyscrapers slammed on top of and next to low-rise, historic neighborhoods.”
