SHELL RE-UPS: Shell Oil has inked a five-year extension of its title sponsorship of the PGA Tour’s Shell Houston Open through 2012. Shell’s sponsorship, which began in ’92, is the ninth-longest among current PGA Tour title sponsors (Shell). In Houston, Steve Campbell notes the event, which currently takes place two weeks after The Masters, will be held the week before The Masters as part of the new FedEx Cup beginning next year. Shell President John Hofmeister “also offered an endorsement of this year’s move to the Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course designed by Rees Jones” (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/20).
NOTES: Diamond Foods inked a three-year extension of its title sponsorship of the Emerald Bowl. The previous agreement ended with this year’s game. Diamond has been the game’s title sponsor since its inception in ’02 (Emerald Bowl)....Best Western renewed its sponsorship as NASCAR’s official hotel for three years, through ’09 (Best Western).
