| Krueger Settles Lawsuit Against KNBR-AM |
DROPPING BOMBS: The American Family Association is asking members to “file an indecency complaint against Fox” after a member of NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr.’s crew called a car a “piece of st” during the net’s coverage of Sunday’s NASCAR Nextel Cup Food City 500. Fox Sports VP/Communications Dan Bell noted that announcer Mike Joy “immediately apologized.” Bell: “We are very sorry that comment escaped our screening process. We take audio very seriously and make painstaking efforts to offer only the best. We will continue to evaluate our policy but as of now there is no delay in place during our live coverage” (BROADCASTINGCABLE.com, 3/27).
WALKING THE PLANK? In Pittsburgh, Bob Smizik reports KDKA-AM’s 50-plus-year run as the Pirates’ flagship station “could end after this season,” as the sides “have been negotiating for about a month [on an extension] with no agreement near.” Under the current deal, the team “can negotiate only with KDKA through Thursday,” but can talk to other stations after that. Pirates VP/Marketing, Sales & Broadcasting Tim Schuldt said that the team will talk to other stations, but “will continue to negotiate with KDKA after the Thursday deadline” (PITT. POST-GAZETTE, 3/28).
