MEDALIST
GOLD: SHAUN WHITE & DANNY KASS– They were hyped, they faced major pressure carrying the Games’ hot sport on their shoulders and they delivered, coming across as fun and likable personalities in the process.
SILVER: TOROC– Despite concerns over slow ticket sales, organizing committee reaches revenue target. And while transportation has been an issue over the Games’ first few days, N.Y. Times notes predicted logistical nightmares “seem not to have been realized.”
BRONZE: NBC’s BRIAN WILLIAMS– We never imagined that Williams’ dour performance during Friday night’s Opening Ceremony would actually have people missing Katie Couric.
DNQ: MICHELLE KWAN– With the abrupt withdrawal of the Most Marketable U.S. Olympian according to a recent poll commissioned by THE DAILY, NBC loses a key storyline for its coverage and sponsors wrestle with whether or not to move forward with activations around her.
