Developer Plans To Build $4B Sports
Resort Near Las Vegas Motor Speedway |
Ultimate Sports Entertainment Inc. (USEI) unveiled plans to build a $4B sports-mega-resort
complex on 116 acres of land near Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The facility will
be designed by K.C.-based HOK Sports and will feature 5,500 rooms, ten sports
arenas, 150,000-square-foot casino and a 750,000-square-foot convention center.
The Perini Building Co. will manage construction. The project is based on a hybrid
of casino, destination and sports business models. The name of the resort will
be determined by a sports arena-style naming-rights deal. USEI has the support
of the USOC, more than 25 NGBs and other sports organizations that are interested
in holding regional and national competitions at the resort once it is completed
(
USEI). In Las Vegas, Mark Anderson notes the venues at the resort include
26,000- and 10,000-seat arenas, a 5,000-seat aquatic center, three 3,000-seat
multi-use facilities, a golf driving range, a bowling alley and an ice rink. USEI
President & CEO Matt Rose said that the group “plans to break ground in about
nine months and that construction should be completed [24-30] months after that.”
USEI has hired the Bonham Group for sports marketing (
