Cotton Mouth: Dallas Postpones Cotton Bowl Renovations

Cotton Bowl Renovations Being Put On Hold
Dallas Park & Recreation Dir Paul Dyer said that the city is postponing “many of the improvements it planned to make” at the Cotton Bowl this year because of “sluggish negotiations among” the city, the State Fair of Texas and “several college football programs,” according to Dave Levinthal of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Dyer said that the city will install about 4,000 new seats out of a planned 16,000. New elevators, restrooms, concession areas and a new stadium façade will “not be ready this year.” But Dyer added a new video board, sound system, wiring, plumbing, fencing, ticket booths and concession improvements “are still scheduled for completion” before October. Dallas officials said that the Univ. of Texas has “delayed negotiations” on a contract extension to continue playing its annual game against the Univ. of Oklahoma beyond ‘08. Oklahoma regents this week authorized school officials to negotiate a contract extension (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 1/27).
