BOWLS: The Independence Bowl named MISSY SETTERS Exec Dir. Setters, who had served as the bowl’s interim Exec Dir since GLEN KRUPICA left in July ’05, becomes the second woman to lead the game after PAT TILLER served as Exec Dir in the early ’90s (SHREVEPORT TIMES, 1/25)....The Fiesta Bowl elected ELLIE ZIEGLER Chair for the ’06-07 season. Ziegler is the second woman in the Fiesta Bowl’s 35-year history to serve as Chair after SHERRY HENRY in ’94 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 1/24).
EXECS: The CFL B.C. Lions named SCOTT ACKLES VP/Football Operations, where he will assist his father, President BOB ACKLES, in developing several areas of club business, including stadium activities. Most recently, Ackles was GM of the ’05 Grey Cup at B.C. Place Stadium (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 1/25)....The National Alliance For Youth Sports (NAFYS) promoted BECKY WALKER to Dir of Marketing (NAFYS)....NASCAR promoted Account Manager of Industry Marketing JIM TUCKER to Senior Account Manager of Industry Marketing in its N.Y. office (NASCAR)....Minor League Baseball named MARY MARANDI Club Coordinator in the Marketing Department, and promoted JEN MORRIS to Senior Manager of Marketing, HEATHER RABURN to Senior Account Manager and MELISSA KEILEN to Account Manager (Minor League Baseball)....Fox Sports en Espanol promoted Account Exec LISA WEINSTEIN to Northeast Regional Sales Manager (Fox Sports en Espanol).
