UBS Signs On As Sponsor Of Asian Golf Tour

UBS has signed a two-year deal as the official financial services provider of the Asian Tour for golf and will also title sponsor the tour’s earnings list, which will be called the UBS Order of Merit, according to Grant Clark of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Last month, UBS sponsored the Hong Kong Open for the first time and plans to triple the event’s prize money to $2.5M over the course of a four-year deal. The company also backs the BMW Asian Open in Shanghai and a show on ESPN-Star Sports called “UBS Golf Club.” UBS Singapore’s Christine Ong: “Very few sports provide year-round media exposure and business-building opportunities across the region in the way that the Asian Tour and the UBS Order of Merit do.” Clark notes UBS also sponsors the PGA Tour’s Players Championship and Bay Hill Invitational, as well as the LPGA’s Evian Masters (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 1/11).
