PBA, Jackson Hewitt Team For $1M Promo

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service is offering $1M to any PBA bowler who wins the three remaining Denny’s PBA Tour major events of the ’05-06 season, according to Kent Lowe of the Baton Rouge ADVOCATE. The three events are the U.S. Open in New Jersey, the Denny’s World Championship in Indianapolis and the Dexter Tournament of Champions in Connecticut. The three major events, which feature “oil patterns slightly more challenging than those used in standard Denny’s PBA Tour events,” each offer a $100,000 top prize and a multi-season exemption on Tour (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 1/9).

NO SPARE CHANGE: Bayer HealthCare and the PBA have renewed their sponsorship agreement for the ’06 calendar year, marking the fourth consecutive year Bayer has teamed with the league. Bayer will receive entitlement of the February 1-5 event near Atlanta, as well as commercial spots on all ESPN telecasts and signage at all events during the second half of the ’05-06 season. The company also will sponsor three bowlers — Mike DeVaney, Dino Castillo and Paul Fleming — in the ’05-06 PBA Sponsor Competition (PBA).
