The Texans have hired former NFL coach DAN REEVES as a consultant, “in
a move that ultimately may determine the fates of” GM CHARLEY CASSERLY
and coach DOM CAPERS. Texans Owner BOB MCNAIR said that he hired
Reeves “for ‘a couple of months’ but added that the relationship could last
longer.” McNair has said that he “will not make top-level personnel decisions
until the season is over.” He also said that Reeves’ hiring “was not made with
an eye toward replacing Capers or Casserly, even though Reeves has experience
in both men’s roles.” McNair: “Dan’s not here to interview for a coaching job”

MEDIA: TBS named Turner Entertainment & Sports Senior VP/Sales & Marketing
CHRIS EAMES Senior VP/New Media Ad Sales & Marketing (DAILY VARIETY,
12/10)....Comcast announced the formation of Comcast Interactive Media (CIM),
a new division devoted to the company’s Internet businesses, and named Exec
VP/Content Development AMY BANSE CIM President and Comcast Interactive
Capital President SAMUEL SCHWARTZ CIM Exec VP/Strategy & Development
(Comcast).
HORSE RACING: Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI) named Hagan Properties President
T. KEVIN FLANERY VP/National Public Affairs. CDI also announced that
Arlington Park President CLIFFORD GOODRICH will step down to pursue other
interests (THE DAILY)....NYRA co-Chair PETER KARCHES has stepped
down from his post but will remain a BOD member. NYRA aides said that Karches
“has a chronic health problem” (Albany TIMES UNION, 12/10).
CHANGING FIELDS: Former Packers DT GILBERT BROWN is a member of
Milwaukee Mile Marketing LLC, the group that will assume promotion rights at
the Milwaukee Mile on January 1, and will become Milwaukee Mile Marketing Dir
of New Business Development (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 12/13).
