Marlins Given Permission By MLB To Explore Relocation
The Marlins, long frustrated by futile efforts to get a new ballpark, have been given the go-ahead by MLB to explore relocation options, and there apparently will not be a shortage of suitors with Portland and New Jersey already lining up. Las Vegas’ desire for a major-league team is also well known, though Mayor Oscar Goodman says he’ll “play it by ear.” While owners are usually vilified for threats to move their franchises, the prevailing notion among columnists is “don’t blame Jeffrey Loria.”
