GIRL POWER: Quiksilver’s Roxy brand has signed four-time surfing World Champion Lisa Andersen as its brand ambassador (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 11/16)....The VAIL DAILY’s Shauna Farnell profiled U.S. Alpine Ski Team member Lindsey Kildow, who has appeared on NBC’s “Today” show and on the covers of several magazines. Kildow: “I’ve kind of always wanted to be Picabo [Street]. She’s always done the Chapstick commercials and whatever. But I didn’t expect it to be quite like this. It’s just been a lot of press and it’s not easy. It’s hard to manage your time.” More Kildow: “I had a photo shoot with Nike in the spring. I’d never been to a production that extravagant before.” Farnell noted Kildow has hired two agents (VAIL DAILY, 11/15).
ALL-STAR: BUSINESSWEEK lists Converse as one of its “Web Smart 50” under the category of pacesetters in marketing, noting the company’s project that asked people to submit ads as video clips online. The project drew 1,600 submissions in one year and more than 40 “artful films for TV at a fraction of the usual cost,” and increased visits to the Converse Web site by 80% (BUSINESSWEEK, 11/21 issue).
