Kid Stuff: NASCAR To Launch Platform Aimed At Preschoolers

NASCAR Developing Animated TV
Series For Some Of Its Younger Fans
NASCAR is developing a multimedia platform for preschoolers called NASCAR Jr., which will include an animated series, books, DVDs and other product spin-offs, according to Alan Buckman of the N.Y. POST. NASCAR said the series will feature “a circle of friends who, in the tradition of NASCAR teams and pit crews, discover the value of teamwork and friendship during the course of their adventures.” NASCAR VP/Broadcasting & New Media Dick Glover said, “NASCAR is a family business and always has been and is one that does try to espouse family values. We’re not just reaching out to the preschoolers but we are reaching out to their entire family.” Buckman notes that NASCAR “has not yet lined up a network to air the proposed show,” but is working with Dallas-based Reel FX Entertainment Exec VP Dennis DeShazer, who was a co-creator of “Barney and Friends” (N.Y. POST, 11/1).
