DIAMOND TIPPED: In DC, Thomas Heath cites sources as saying that the winning bidder for the Nationals “will be required to place a $45[M] deposit” with MLB. MLB sent purchase agreements to each group outlining the terms of the sale and setting the price at $450M, but “has not set a date for a return” of the agreements. Meanwhile, DC Council member Vincent Orange has introduced a resolution that “would officially ask MLB to select a local owner” (WASHINGTON POST, 9/21).
