Brewers Considering Converting Suites Into Group Areas

The Brewers are “exploring the possibility of converting” some suites along the left- and right-field lines at Miller Park into “expanded party suites or group party areas,” according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The Brewers “have had some difficulty leasing suites to corporations or individuals,” but the team has had success selling party suites and marketing the Dew Deck, located in the right-field corner. Brewers Exec VP/Business Operations Rick Schlesinger said, “We could turn it into an upscale area with a different theme.” Walker also reports a small area behind the out-of-town scoreboard in right field “would be converted to a group party area for 40-50 people.” Funding for the project has yet to be determined. The Brewers and the Miller Park stadium district share a Segregated Reserve Fund for ballpark improvements. The district’s board decides “what projects are jointly funded, and which ones the Brewers have to fund on their own.” The team hopes to have the changes in place for the ’06 season (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/16).

HITTING THE MARK: The Brewers have surpassed the two-million mark in ticket sales for the season, meaning the team will eclipse the mark for the fourth time in franchise history and for the first time in consecutive years. The Brewers had a total attendance of 2,062,382 in ’04. The team’s home attendance through 56 games this season is 1,583,660, up 10% from 1,424,003 through the same number of games in ’04 (Brewers).
