RACING: In Charlotte, Erik Spanberg reports News Corp.’s Speed Channel, after considering moving from Charlotte to another city or closer to NASCAR teams north of the city, “has instead settled on a two-year lease extension” for its current HQs through ’08. The network will increase its space to 23,000 square feet from the current 19,000 (CHARLOTTE BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/22 issue)....NASCAR Chair & CEO Brian France, “lamenting the lack of racing coverage in the press,” said at the CTAM Summit yesterday, that he is “mulling the idea of developing content that could be used by news organizations sort of a ‘NASCAR AP’” (CABLEFAX DAILY, 7/27).
