World Track Championships Going Online To Reach U.S. Viewers

IAAF To Webcast World
Championships In U.S.
The ’05 IAAF World Championships for the first time ever will be Webcast in the U.S. as the IAAF “seeks to overcome American broadcasters’ antipathy towards ‘amateur’ sports outside Olympic years,” according to Steven Downes of the LONDON TIMES. The service is being delivered by World Championships Sports Network in partnership with MLBAM. This year’s event will be staged in Helsinki from August 6-14. The Webcast will feature 58 hours of coverage with Steve Ovett, Sean Pickering and Peter Matthews providing commentary. Subscriptions are under $5 and provide access to the live feed, archived Webcast footage one hour after the conclusion of each day’s coverage and the 60-minute daily highlight show airing on PAX (LONDON TIMES, 7/25).
