Yahoo is expected to name DAVID KATZ “head of its sports and entertainment divisions.” Katz most recently was CBS Senior VP/Strategic Planning & Interactive Ventures, where he “was key to the programming deal that for the first time brought fans live streaming video of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament” in ’03 (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 7/6)....Sporting News Radio (SNR) named Viacom Sports Dir of Market Development LEE ROSENTHAL VP/Sales (SNR).

FRANCHISE: The T’Wolves re-signed GM JIM STACK. Terms were not disclosed (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 7/2)....The AFL Avengers promoted Dir of Ticket Sales MATT WIKSTROM to Senior Dir of Sales; Ticket Operations Manager TODD TIPPETT to Dir of Ticket Operations; Account Exec EVAN SHAPIRO to Group Sales Manager; and Account Exec JAMES JACKSON to Inside Sales Manager. The Avengers also hired CHRIS HOLMES as an Account Exec (Avengers)....The Flames hired GRAHAM BRISSARD for a temporary position in their finance department. Flames President KEN KING estimated that “about 40 job positions will be opening with priority given to former employees who had to leave when hours were cut back last fall. Hiring will begin shortly for marketing, administrative, accounting and ticketing posts” (CALGARY HERALD, 7/2)....The Suns hired HARPER HOMES and RYAN HARRIS as Inside Sales Reps (Game Face).
