In Palm Beach, Joe Schad reports Dolphins COO Bryan Wiedmeier “will serve as Dolphins president” after outgoing President Eddie Jones retires, meaning “the hiring of another executive is unlikely.” Meanwhile, Dolphins Owner Wayne Huizenga said he has “no plans to sell [the team] and no plans to take in partners” (PALM BEACH POST, 3/24).
GOING ONCE, GOING TWICE: In Pittsburgh, Shelly Anderson reports the Pirates filed an emergency motion Wednesday with the Western Pennsylvania District of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court “to temporarily stop any sales effort” of the team’s ’79 World Series trophy and other memorabilia slated to be sold in bankruptcy proceedings of the Allegheny Club. The memorabilia was donated by former Pirates Owner Dan Galbreath to the club, which used to be housed in Three Rivers Stadium. An out-of-state collector has put a $100,000 bid on the memorabilia, but the bankruptcy court “apparently has set no deadline for the sale” (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 3/24).

| MLB Rangers Add Season-Ticket Holder Section To Web Site |
TICKET TO RIDE: The MLB Rangers have created a password-protected season-ticket holder section on texasrangers.com that any season-, partial-, mini plan- or suite-holder will have access to. The section provides exclusive information and products, including chat sessions and message boards, video highlights, post-game manager press conference videos, and a feature that allows season-ticket holders to transfer tickets to other individuals who can then print them at home (Rangers).
ULTIMATE WARRIORS: In S.F., Janny Hu reports the Warriors’ average attendance since trading for G Baron Davis on February 24 “has, and is projected to, jump enough to challenge last year’s all-time-best average of 16,235.” Warriors President Robert Rowell previously said that the team “was not on pace for another gain this season.” Hu adds that the franchise has been “one of only three NBA teams to enjoy four straight years of attendance increases” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 3/24).
