Capri Films Producing Biopic On
F1 Driver Villeneuve And Father |
Montreal-based Capri Films will produce “Villeneuve,” a biopic about Jacques Villeneuve, “the celebrated Quebec-born [F1] race-car driver,” according to Etan Vlessing of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Villeneuve “will act as a consultant on the project, and agreed to race in the film.” Christian Duguay will direct the film, which will “focus on the father-son relationship” between Villeneuve and his father, Gilles, who was killed in ’82 during an F1 qualifying session. The movie is based on the best-selling biography by Gerald Donaldson, and Malcolm Clarke will write the screenplay. Capri Films President Gabriella Martinelli estimated the budget for the film at around $25M and said production would start in ’06 (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 2/25).
