| Selig Turning Focus To Wrapping Up Talks With Angelos |
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig “is heightening his role” in talks with Orioles Owner Peter Angelos about compensating the team for the Nationals’ move to DC, according to Eric Fisher of the WASHINGTON TIMES. Selig, who is “seeking to bring a swift end to the festering dispute,” met Thursday with Angelos and other Orioles officials during MLB’s owners meetings in Arizona, “marking his first face-to-face talks with Angelos in more than a month.” Orioles execs will travel next week to Milwaukee for another negotiating session with Selig. A source said, “There’s no question Bud’s role has increased. We’re all running out of time.” Selig and MLB President & COO Bob DuPuy described Thursday’s conversation as “friendly, though the meeting ended without resolution” (WASHINGTON TIMES, 1/14).
