NOTES: This was the inaugural year for the Phillies in Citizens Bank Park, capacity 43,500. The Padres played in new Petco Park, capacity 42,500. ^ = average includes total attendance for games at Olympic Stadium (capacity 46,406) and Hiram Bithorn Stadium (capacity 19,000) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Expos averaged 10,334 fans for 21 games at Hiram Bithorn, down 27.3% from last year's 14,222 average for 22 games. The Expos averaged 8,477 for 59 games at Olympic Stadium (THE DAILY)....The Phillies’ attendance was more than double the total from two seasons ago, but “one indication of waning fan interest came in September, as only four of the 13 home dates sold out with the Phillies out of the playoff race. In July and August, 23 of 30 games sold out” (Doug Lesmerises, Delaware County NEWS JOURNAL, 10/4)....The Dodgers’ season total was the third highest in franchise history (L.A. TIMES, 10/4).
