MLB Franchise Notes: Twins Refute Pohlad/Steinbrenner Rift

Pohlad-Steinbrenner Reports

In Minneapolis, La Velle Neal III reports Twins officials “were amused” by a N.Y. Daily News story that claimed Twins Owner Carl Pohlad and Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner do not “have a good relationship and that things were uneasy during Game 1 on Tuesday when Pohlad visited Steinbrenner’s box during the game.” Twins President Dave St. Peter and other team officials “denied any tension between the two.” St. Peter: “Steinbrenner and the [Yankees] treated the Twins and Carl Pohlad and his family with nothing but the utmost class during two days in New York.” Meanwhile, Neal reports Pohlad on Thursday “offered up his own plane to fly” Twins RF Jacque Jones to California to attend his father’s funeral (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 10/8)....In St. Paul, Charley Walters reports the Vikings “have been selling $65 tickets for the Metrodome suites they own for” Friday’s Game Three and Saturday’s Game Four of the Yankees-Twins ALDS matchup (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 10/8).

GUARDIAN ANGELS: In California, Vik Jolly reports the city of Anaheim, based on the Angels’ home attendance figure of 3,465,403 through the first two games of the ALDS, “has raked in an estimated $1.73[M] from” ticket sales. Anaheim receives $2 for each ticket sold over 2.6 million. The city collected $1.13M in ’03 and $265,000 in ’02 (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 10/8).
