NHL: Sunshine Network beginning on October 26 will air replays of the Lightning’s eight victories in the Eastern Conference and Stanley Cup Finals from last season. The game broadcasts will be from the NHL’s Canadian TV partners, the CBC and TSN, which have not previously been seen in the U.S. (Sunshine Network)....Red Wings D Chris Chelios, on whether players pay attention to the league’s TV ratings: “Sure we do. It bothers us. Especially when you hear that volleyball is getting higher ratings than hockey. Some cities are never going to be into hockey. I think we’ve let too many teams into the league and that’s the biggest problem now” (SI, 10/11 issue).
BOBCATS: Former UNC Charlotte G Henry Williams and Triple-A Int’l League Indianapolis Indians play-by-play announcer Scott Lauer will join Steve Martin on the Bobcats’ radio broadcasts as color analyst and studio host, respectively. WNBA Mystics assistant coach Stephanie Ready will be the sideline reporter for the team’s TV broadcasts on C-SET (Bobcats).
