After Touring L.A. NFL Execs Say Stadium Progress Being Made
Published October 7, 2004
Though none of the four L.A.-area sites working to build an NFL stadium Carson, the Coliseum, the Rose Bowl and Anaheim are “expected to meet next week's NFL deadline for agreeing on a term sheet,” NFL execs said that “progress was being made toward a stadium deal,” according to Billy Witz of the L.A. DAILY NEWS. NFL Exec VP/Finance & Strategic Transactions Eric Grubman, who along with NFL Senior VP/Strategic Planning Neil Glat and Chris Hardart spent the last two days meeting with site officials, said, “We’ve got four sites that are all working hard, all making progress and all have different issues. People are focused.” Grubman declined to discuss details of the sites (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 10/7). League owners are next due to take up the issue at their next meeting at the end of October in Detroit (L.A. TIMES, 10/7).
COWBOY UP: The NFL confirmed that Commissioner Paul Tagliabue on October 16 will tour the City of Arlington, Texas with Mayor Robert Cluck and Tarrant County Judge Tom Vandergriff. They will visit the site of the Cowboys’ proposed stadium and discuss the city’s vision for prospective Super Bowls. Tagliabue will attend the Steelers-Cowboys game at Texas Stadium and conclude his visit on the morning of the 18th when he speaks to the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau on the benefits of new stadiums and Super Bowls (Cowboys).
