NFL OWNERS: Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES will be among nine former Univ. of Arkansas athletes inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Honor this September. Jones was co-captain and starting G for the '64 national championship football team (AP, 7/3)....In Las Vegas, Norm Clarke reported Raiders Owner AL DAVIS celebrated his 75th birthday in Las Vegas this past weekend. The 150 guests included former Raiders greats JOHN MADDEN, JIM PLUNKETT, FRED BILETNIKOFF, JIM OTTO, WILLIE BROWN, DAVE CASPER, KENNY KING and GEORGE ATKINSON, as well as Clippers Owner DONALD STERLING. The party was held at Piero's Italian Cuisine, "which was decorated in silver and black. Staffers wore Raiders caps." The group also attended CELINE DION's show at Caesars Palace (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 7/5).
SLIPPERY WHEN WET: In Boston, Jonathan Saltzman reports a Suffolk Superior Court jury ruled that OLDE TOWN TEAM REALTY TRUST and Fenway Park vendor ARAMARK owe delivery man RONALD CASILLI $398,076 for injuries suffered in '99 when he slipped on a wet ramp while delivering two kegs of Miller, which then fell on top of him. Attorney SCOTT BEHMAN, who is representing Olde Town Team and Aramark, said that he intends to ask Judge MARGARET HINKLE to reduce the award at a hearing tomorrow (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/7).
INSIDE STUFF: The N.Y. POST's Page Six reported that STUFF MAGAZINE named actress SUZEN MURAKOSHI to the newly created position of Snowboarding Editor. A staffer said that Murakoshi, "who has not written anything for the magazine, only comes by the building once in a while and uses her title to get into parties and 'maybe get free snowboarding equipment.'" Murakoshi does not have a telephone extension, and reportedly is a good friend of Felix Dennis; Dennis Publishing produces the magazine (N.Y. POST, 7/6).
PAU OUT: In Memphis, Ron Tillery reported Grizzlies F PAU GASOL has severed ties with agent MARK TERMINI after two years. Termini: "Pau and his family presented a proposal to modify our original player/agent contract. I was not willing to modify the contract to the extent Pau and his family wanted." Tillery wrote it is "safe to assume ... that Termini would have been caught off guard by Gasol's request to devalue his services," as Gasol is "about to negotiate his first lucrative deal one that could last up to six years and approach $90[M]." There is speculation Gasol may hire ARN TELLEM (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 7/4).
